The Buffalo Sabres were handily defeated by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday to fall further behind in the NHL wild-card race. They knew ahead of time that it would be a tough road assignment playing without Rasmus Dahlin, but now it looks like the former first overall pick could be back on the ice for the team's Wednesday game against the Montreal Canadiens.
The same cannot be said, however, for Victor Olofsson.
Victor Olofsson will not travel to Montreal due to a non-COVID illness, Don Granato announced.

Rasmus Dahlin (lower body) felt well enough in his rehab skate to joint the team for practice, which is good news.
Dahlin has played in all but two of Buffalo's games this season. He currently leads the Sabres in assists (25) and is third in points (33).
In his fourth NHL season, Olofsson is third on the team in assists with 17. He's also added seven goals for 24 total points.
Buffalo is currently eighth in the wild-card standings with 40 points and a 16-27-8 record. The Sabres play the league-worst Canadiens (11-33-7, 29 points) on the road at 7:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
